Authors aren’t always in control of the worlds we build for the characters we create.

The small town Nova Scotia cozy mystery idea that had percolated poured out as a thriller set in Canada’s capital city. Jerilynn and Alec were supposed to rekindle their high school romance in the South Shore hometown where he’d stayed and she’d returned. Exhausted and disheartened, Nikki arrives at the Maritime home she’d searched for online and takes a tumble off the front porch as I did four years ago. Sean sheds the RCMP uniform for veterinarian scrubs.

Like hot chocolate and eggnog, “A Harmony Christmas” promises the joy of new love and the warmth of finding home, sweetened and spiced by a fur-ever second chance for a pair of stray pet pals.
